This course is a prerequisite to enrolling in Urban Pest Management Level 3 IF you do not have mentor and approved observer to oversee your workplace-based practical training.
PLEASE NOTE: You must purchase a starter pack prior to attending this Foundation course.
The starter pack must include; PPE (overalls, gloves, booties, full face mask), sprayer and 2x bait stations. You can purchase this starter pack at your preferred place, or contact Cleaning Systems for a quote, and get a cheaper course price.
This Prerequisite Foundation course is focused on the fundamental skills that are required for a technician carrying out Urban Pest Management.
Trainees will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience.
Course coverage includes hands-on practical experience with PPE, equipment, role playing jobs for several pests, the basics of pest control and Safety for the environment, the customer and the worker.
Who can be an observer/ mentor?
- If you are employed by a pest control company, your workplace manager or another qualified technician can act as your observer/ mentor.
- You are welcome to call pest control companies or anyone with 5+ years of pest control experience and see if they can mentor you through the UPM L3 qualificsation to give you your practial experience, and act as your apprived observer come time of your UPM L3 practicals.
If you have someone to act as your mentor and observer you do not need to do this prerequesite foundation course, you can go ahead and enrol in NZQA Certificate in Pest Operations Level 3 – Urban Pest Management.
